Marvella V. Fehling, age 99 of Lowden, passed away on Thursday September 12, 2019 at Wheatland Manor. Funeral services will be held on Monday September 16 at 10:30 A.M at Zion United Church of Christ with Reverend Stephen Stepp officiating. Burial will follow at Van Horn Cemetery south of Lowden. Visitation will be held on Sunday September 15 from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
Marvella was born on June 6, 1920 to August and Ella (Beuthien) Horman in Bennett, Iowa. She married Harold Fehling on October 18, 1940 in Lowden. He died on May 19, 1971.
Marvella was a woman of faith, and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, as well as a former member of the women's guild and Zion quilters. She was also a former member of the Cedar County Cook Association and received a State of Iowa volunteer award for helping people. Marvella taught Sunday School for over 20 years.
She is survived by her four daughters, Sharon (Bill) Elijah of Clarence, Cheryl (Jim) Hartley of Tustin, CA, Shirlee (Dan) Gallagher of Oskaloosa, and Sherrie (Milan) James of Maquoketa; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Harold (Mary Louise) of Lowden and Raldo of Tipton; and sisters, Erna Rowold of Geneseo, IL, Alice Rowold of Lowden, and Irene Rowold of Tipton.
Marvella was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers; a son; sister-in-laws, Mabel Horman & Darlene Horman; and brother-in-law, Gerald Rowold.
