Marvin Derynck, age 88 of Clarence, passed away on Friday June 6, 2014 at the Mechanicsville Nursing & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 11, 2014 at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence at 10:30 A.M with Pastor Jordan McKinley officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Lowden. Visitation will be held from 9 A.M until service time.
Marvin was born on July 17, 1925 to Felix and Mary (Ricklef) Derynck in Lost Nation, Iowa. He married Evelyn Gottschalk on August 27, 1950 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden. She died September 22, 2009.
Marvin was a member of the Clarence American Legion Post 286, and was a former custodian at the Cedar County Courthouse for 27 years. He was hard working and always busy, but enjoyed the times he shared with his friends and family. Marvin was a lifelong Cedar County resident.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Donald) Casteel of Warren, MI.; one grandchild; and 3 great grandchildren.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and two brothers, Melvin and Silven.
