Mary Margaret Utley, age 89 of Cedar Rapids, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday September 27, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. There will be a family graveside service on Saturday October 8, 2022 at the Portable Cemetery in Manchester officiated by Rev. Lyle Greiner. Following the service, all are invited for snacks and fellowship at the Cobblestone Inn and Suites in Manchester.

Mary was born October 2, 1932 to Roy and Naomi (Hobson) Haynes in Manchester, Iowa.

She is survived by a daughter Jean (Craig) Nelson of Hudson, WI; son Bill (Kayla) Utley of Center Point; grandchildren Colton Utley, Katie Ward, and Lizzy Ward; brother Stephen Haynes of Idaho Falls, ID; and close friends Kim and Jeremy Nicodemus.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; infant grandson Mitchell Utley; sisters Claudia Keith, Elizabeth Ulferts, and Eleanor Beitz; and brother Beldon Haynes in infancy.

Mary grew up helping her father with the farm chores and took pride in being an "old farm girl." In more recent years she was a lunch lady and child care worker for Cedar Rapids Schools.
