Matilda "Tillie" M. Fischer, age 94 of Wheatland, passed away on Saturday November 11, 2017 at Wheatland Manor. Funeral services will be held on Friday November 17 at 10:00 A.M at St. James Catholic Church in Toronto with Father Francis Odoom officiating. Burial will follow at the St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday November 16 from 4-6 P.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland. Tillie was born on January 27, 1923 to Dominic and Marie (Lecluse) Caes in Stacyville, Iowa. Tillie loved to crochet, go mushroom hunting and fishing. She was a good cook, gardener, and was a wonderful, hands-on mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Harold of Wheatland; children, Don (Shar) Straka of Wheatland, Richard (Rita) Straka of Hampton, IL, and Deb (Don) Naughton of Solon; grandchildren, Dawn (Todd) Engler, Dave (Susan) Straka, Collin (Amy) Straka, Mechelle (Joe) Janz, Moe (Joe) Wertz, Brenna Choisser, Tom (Teri) Straka, and Brad (Ken) Straka; 14 great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Judy Meyer of Dubuque. Tillie was preceded in death by her parents; son, James; daughter, Mary Lou; grandson, Steve; and granddaughter, Erin.
