Mavis A. Spangler, age 69, of Clarence, Iowa, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion, Iowa. Mavis was born on September 26, 1939, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Thomas and Alice (Clark) Edwards. Mavis married Herbert Spangler on July 27, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Herbert died in 2003. Mavis worked as a CT3 for the Department of Human Services in Tipton for over 20 years. Funeral services for Mavis Spangler will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the Clarence United Methodist Church in Clarence. Burial will follow in Red Oak Cemetery in rural Tipton. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Monday, May 18, 2009, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Mavis is survived by her son Michael (Deb) of Clarence; daughter Cindy (Kevin) Clark of Blue Grass, Iowa; 7 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; brothers Larry Edwards of Cedar Rapids and Dick Edwards of Fulton, Illinois and sister Arlene Klahn of Cedar Rapids. Mavis was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, and four brothers.
