Maxine B. Moes, age 91, of Lowden, Iowa, died on December 8, 2011 at Clarence Nursing Home of an extended illness. Maxine was born July 1, 1920, in Tipton to Walter J. Conway and Erma M. (Clendenin) Conway. Maxine married Michael Moes, Sr. in November 1984 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at Zion United Church Of Christ in Lowden, Iowa, with Pastor Steve Stepp officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. Organist will be Joy Combs and a solo will be performed by Joel Paulsen. Visitation will be held at 9:30 am until service time. Maxine enjoyed knitting, quilting, gardening, sewing and the company of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by daughters Janice (Kent) Strackbein of Lowden and Deborah (Clint) Harm of Aurora, CO; stepsons Michael Jr. (Elaine) Moes of Tipton and Loren (Rose) Moes of Anamosa; stepdaughters Marcia (Don) Hover of Prescott, WI, Michelle Askren of Heartland, WI, and Cynthia (Owen) Lavin of Denver, CO; 3 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; and sister Helen (Bill) Mueller of Pasadena, CA. Maxine was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband in March 2002; son Duane Gritton; sisters Pauline, Alberta and Virginia; and brother Donald Conway.
