Merle F. Bentrott, age 92, died Monday January 14, 2013 at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M Friday January 18, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden, with Reverend Victor Young officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.\n \n Merle was born on June 3, 1920 in Bennett, Iowa to Fred and Nettie (Knoche) Bentrott. He married Irma Mensing on December 6, 1940 in Lowden. Merle served his church and community faithfully by serving on many boards. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing, and helped with the development of the 3/30 Club in Lowden. Survivors include his wife, Irma of Clarence; Son, Jerry (Tammy) Bentrott of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Daughter, Judith (David) Dissen of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Grandchidren, Christopher, Michael, Daniel, and Rain; and a sister, Joyce (Colby) Withers of Readlyn, Iowa. Merle was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, June Bergmann.
