Mildred J. Sawyer, age 84, of Clarence, Iowa, died Friday, March 23, 2007, at Clarence Nursing Home. Mildred was born Sept.7, 1922, in Clarence to Elmore and Selma (Hulse) Ruther. Mildred married James Sawyer on September 3, 1941 in Kahoke, Mo. He died in 1997. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Clarence United Methodist Church, Iowa. Burial will follow at Clarence Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Monday, March 26, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Mildred was survived by her daughter Karen (Bob) Meyer of Center Point, sons Jim (Laura) Sawyer of Phoenix, AZ, and Rick (Deb) Sawyer of Clarence. She was also survived by nine grandchildren Mike Meyer, Diane Meyer, Doug Meyer, Todd (Jill) Sawyer, Gina (Rick) Tasler, Bryan (Sandi) Sawyer, Justine Sawyer, Christine Sawyer, Buffi (Rod) Honeck, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren, brother William (Maxine) Ruther of Burlington.
