Mildred Schneider, age 87, of Wheatland, Iowa, died Sunday, September 20, 2009, at the West Wing Place in Dewitt. Mildred was born March 28, 1922, on a farm near Letcher, South Dakota, to Fred and Albina (Ruml) Dreyer. Mildred married Louis Schneider on August 21, 1940 at Zwingle, Iowa. He died in 1987.
Mildred moved to Iowa in 1935 and graduated from Davenport High School in 1940. She farmed with her husband for 10 years in Scott County near Dixon, Iowa. She worked for Alfred Rowold and Wheatland Mutual Insurance for 44 years. Mildred belonged to Dixon Temple #247 Pythian Sisters and the St. Paul's Martha aid. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling, watching sports on T.V., and cooking. She was a cookbook collector and a charter member of Wapsie Oaks Country Club.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, September 26, 2009, at St. Paul's United Church Of Christ in Wheatland, Iowa, with Reverend Lynne Bisson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30am on Saturday, September 26, until the service time. Memorials can be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to St. Paul's Cemetery.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Dwaine) Albers of Newark, Ohio; son, Leslie (Evy) Schneider of Wausau, Wisconsin; sister, Elaine Rehmke of West Liberty, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Kim (Matt) Besst of Johnstown, Ohio, Brian (Laura) Albers of Louisville, Colorado, Paul (Natalie) Albers of Olive Branch, Miss Elizabeth Schneider of Rothschild, Wisconsin, and David Schneider of Chicago, Illinois; 3 great grandchildren, Carolyn, Reece, and Zachary.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, one brother, and one great grandchild.
