Myrtle L. Hasselbusch, age 88, of Clarence, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Myrtle was born April 11, 1921, in Lowden, Iowa, to George and Emma (Mente) Hein. Myrtle married Elwood Hasselbusch February 7, 1946, in Stanwood, Iowa. Elwood died in 1982. Myrtle worked at Midwest Name Plate in Mt. Vernon, Iowa for 20 years. Funeral services for Myrtle Hasselbush will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence, with Reverend David Mears officiating. Following services her body will be cremated with burial at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm Friday, May 22, 2009, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. In lieu of flowers a memorial to Clarence Nursing Home has been established. Myrtle is survived by her son Stan (Patricia) of Wexford, Pennsylvania; daughters Jan (Dallas) Hernan of Mesquite, Nevada; Sue (Mike) Coppess of Indianola, Iowa; and four grandsons and one granddaughter. Myrtle was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and four sisters.
