Nancy J. Kress, age 75 of Clarence, passed away on Friday January 9, 2015 at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 13, 2015 at 11:00 A.M at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence with Reverend David Mears officiating. Burial will follow at the Dayton Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M til service time at the church. Nancy was born on October 8, 1939 in Anamosa, Iowa to Russell and Jeanette (Hunter) Orr. She married Ronnie Kress on August 3, 1963 in Onslow. He died April 27, 1996. Nancy ran the JNG Cafe in Onslow with her mother from 1953-1963. She worked in the Jones County Courthouse for 5 years and the Clarence Savings Bank for 22 years. Nancy enjoyed antiquing, dancing, shooting pool and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her sons, Rodney (Julie) of Clarence and Jeffrey (Jennifer) of Eldridge; and grandchildren, Logan, Taylor, Carson and Keaton. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and step father, Gordon Sawyer.
