Nola Borchers, age 84, of Wheatland, Iowa, died on January 25, 2011, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House-Bettendorf. Nola was born October 15, 1926, in Bennett, Iowa, to Fred and Amanda (Thiering) Rekemeyer. Nola married Reid Borchers on June 14, 1947, at Davenport; he died December 4, 2008. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:30 am Friday morning at the Chapman Funeral Home-Wheatland, with a luncheon to follow at Wheatland Community Hall. Her body will be cremated following visitation with inurnment at a later date. Nola had worked at Horstmann General Store in Big Rock for nearly 40 years. She enjoyed needlepoint and loved having her grandchildren visit. She is survived by two daughters: Sharline (Don) Straka and Sandra (Jay) Cavey of Wheatland; s son Charles (Linda) of Toronto; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister Nelda (Elmer) Siebke of Davenport; brothers Fred (Janice) Rekemeyer, Jr. of Tipton and Pete (Joann) Rekemeyer of Bennett. Nola was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 brothers, and 1 sister.
