Nola Emma (Esbaum) Wenndt, age 84 of Lowden, passed away at her home after a lengthy illness on July 22, 2015, surrounded by her family. Visitation for Nola will be held at Zion United Church of Christ in Lowden at 9:00 A.M Friday July 24, 2015. Memorial services will immediately follow at 10:00 A.M with Reverend Stephen Stepp officiating. Cremation has taken place and a private burial for family will be held at the Lowden Cemetery.
The daughter of Fred and Anna (Beeth) Esbaum, she was born on September 6, 1930 in Bennett. She married Wilbert H. Wenndt on September 26, 1948 in Lowden. They farmed west of Lowden until moving to town in 1989. Nola enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking, quilting, and spending time with family.
She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Debbie (Jess) Axline of Lowden, Sherri (Robert) Rouse of Clarence, and Robyn (William) Klein of Kalona; 9 grandchildren, Darin (Janelle) Axline of Tipton, Angela (Dustin) Peet of Cedar Rapids, Sheila (Travis) Bowling of Maquoketa, Brian (Ashley) Rouse of Luzerne, Joel (Marisa) Rouse of Clarence, Daniel Rouse of Cedar Rapids, Paige Rouse of Clarence, Ashley Klein of Hiawatha and Adam Klein of Fairfield; and 8 great grandchildren.
Nola was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, Norma Esbaum, Helen Meyer and Marie Huffman; and brother, Harold Esbaum.
Memorials may be made to Zion United Church of Christ or Above and Beyond Hospice.
