Obituary

Pamela Hoker, age 66 of Wheatland, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Wednesday September 18, 2019, after a courageous 15-year battle with breast cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wheatland Community Hall on Saturday September 21 from 10:00 A.M-2:00 P.M. with a memorial service to be held at 11:00 A.M officiated by Chaplain Lyle Greiner. Food and fellowship will follow. Pamela was born on October 15, 1952 to Kenneth and LaVon (Crawford) Smith in Quincy, Illinois. She married Craig Ginster and they later divorced. Pamela married John Hoker on March 8, 1991 in Clinton, Iowa. Pamela enjoyed bowling, fishing, outdoor activities, and swimming. She loved animals, especially her chickens. Pamela was a traveler, visiting 47 out of the 50 states in the country, and also enjoyed many fishing trips with her husband John. She is survived by her husband, John; son, Jeremy (companion Danelle) of Brush Prairie, WA; daughter, Carey (companion Michael) of Muscatine; grandchildren, Taylor, Keegan, Bailee, Brayton, and Rylee; great grandchildren, Logan & Arden; and sisters, Carol, Sharon, and Debbie. Pamela was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Judy. The family would like to express their gratitude to family & friends for all their care provided during this difficult time, as well as the love & support from the Compassus Hospice team.
