Patricia Lillian Meyer, age 84 of Marion, formerly of Clarence, passed away on Wednesday December 18, 2013 at the Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion. Funeral services will be held on Monday December 23, 2013 at 10:30 A.M at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence with Reverend David Mears officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M on Sunday December 22, 2013 at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Patricia was born on March 14, 1929 to Clarence and Irene (Bechthold) O'Brien in Keystone, Iowa. She married Frederick Meyer on December 12, 1948 in Cedar Rapids. They lived in Stanwood until 1983 when they moved to Clarence. In 1989 they relocated to Casa Grande, AZ where they lived until they returned to Iowa due to Mr. Meyer's illness and death in 1997. Patricia has lived in Cedar Rapids and Marion since 1997, first in her own home, then in assisted living and in Willow Gardens Care Center since May of 2012. Pat was always active and fun-loving. She played cards and games with family and friends and loved working on her computer to make unique greeting cards. She worked many years in the Stanwood and Clarence area as a bookkeeper. Wherever she lived, she was involved in her church and enjoyed playing handbells for many years. Mrs. Meyer is survived by her children, Theresa (Kim) Comstock of Estes Park, CO., Andrew Meyer of Cedar Rapids, Forrest Meyer of Chicago, IL. and Micah Meyer of Iowa City; grandchildren, Erin (Zack) Taylor, Megan Comstock, David Meyer, Kennon Meyer,Sophie Meyer and Jacob Meyer; great-grandson, Jason Taylor; sister, Mary Becker and special niece, Pam (John) Malczynski as well as many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and sisters, Bernadine Wieben and Jeanne Beachler.
