Pearl Russ, age 101 of Lowden, passed away on Monday December 16, 2013 at the Wheatland Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 21, 2013 at 10:30 A.M at Zion United Church of Christ in Lowden with Reverend Stephen Stepp officiating. Burial will follow at the Van Horne Cemetery in Lowden. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Pearl was born on May 9, 1912 to David and Nettie (Brewer) Horne in Marion Station, Pennsylvania. She married Arthur Russ on August 5, 1931 in Rock Island. He died in 1992. Pearl was a member of the Lowden Zion Church and the Amvets Auxiliary Post #16. She loved to quilt and travel which included trips to California along with going fishing with her family. She was survived by her son, David and wife, Gerry of Santa Barbara, California; sister Marie Emerson of Rochester, Iowa; brother Darrell Horne of Belle Plaine, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sons; 3 sisters and 1 brother.
