Raymond Conrad, age 96, of Clarence, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at Clarence Nursing Home due to a complication of age. Raymond was born on February 10, 1912, in Fairfield Township of Cedar County, Iowa to Ernest and Amanda (Helmold) Conrad. Raymond married Irene Becker on December 1, 1937 in Lowden; she died in 1996. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 7, 2008, at St. John's United Church of Christ, with Reverend David Mears officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until service time on Friday, March 7. Memorials may be made to the Clarence Ambulance or Clarence Nursing Home. Raymond had been a farmer and retired in 1975. He was a former board member of Cedar County Coop and had served on the care review committee at the Clarence Nursing Home. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Church. Raymond has no immediate survivors. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his brother Leonard.
