Raymond D. Sanger, age 87, of Clarence, Iowa, died May 23, 2012 at the Clarence Nursing Home. Raymond was born January 10, 1925, in Maquoketa, Iowa to Ray H. Sanger Sr. and Christina (Buck) Sanger. Raymond married Elaine Boettcher on April 20, 1947 in Clarence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, Iowa, with Rev. David Mears officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Clarence with military rites by the Clarence American Legion Post #286. Visition will be held from 9:00-11:00am at the funeral home before the service.
Ray was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence and the Clarence American Legion Post 286. Ray was a WWII veteran and spent his life involved in the outdoors.
He is survived by wife Elaine; son Ted Sanger of Cedar Rapids; daughters Ellen (Melvin) Krause of Cedar Rapids, Sally Meyer of Marion, Peggy (Richard III) Prochaska of Cedar Rapids, and Vicki Crock of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Christy (Nate) Hines, Jeromy (Renee) Krause, Phillip (Amy) Meyer, Steve Prochaska IV, Chad (Stephanie) Prochaska, Theresa (Jessie) Manning, Joe (Collette) Crock, and Matthew (Crystal) Crock; 15 great-grandchildren; and brother Rex (Dorothy) Sanger of Maquoketa.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Howard and Ray Jr., and daughter Lori.
