Raymond G. Steinke, age 74, of Clarence, Iowa, died at Clarence Nursing Home on May 22, 2011. Raymond was born June 27, 1936, in rural Oxford Junction to Edward Steinke and Frieda (Burmeister) Steinke. Raymond married Beverly Long on September 9, 1956 at Clarence. She died on November 28, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at St. John's United Church Of Christ in Clarence, Iowa, with Reverend David Mears officiating. Following the service, his body will be cremated with inurnment in Massillon Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 24, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Ray had been employed at Land O' Lakes in Clarence, retiring in 2000. He had served on the Clarence Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He is survived by daughter Tracie (Kevin) Resewehr of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter Alicia Donnel of Cedar Rapids; grandson Travis Merrifield of Cedar Rapids; sister Darlene Ernst of Kalispell, Montana; and brother Harley (Sharon) Steinke of Tipton. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and beloved dog Cydney.
