Reid K. Borchers, 85, of Wheatland, Iowa, died Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center in Dewitt, Iowa. Reid was born on May 29, 1923, in Stockton, Iowa, to Charles and Carrie (Herman) Borchers. On June 14, 1947, Reid and Nola Rekemeyer were married in Davenport, Iowa. Reid served in the Army 10th Mountain Division during WWII and had worked as a farmer and also at Alcoa. He was a member of the Dixon American Legion. Visitation for Reid Borchers will be on Monday from 9:00-11:30am at the Chapman Funeral Home with a luncheon immediately following at Wheatland Community Hall. His body will be cremated after visitation with services and inurnment at a later date. Reid Borchers is survived by his wife Nola; daughters Sharline (Don) Straka and Sandra (Jay) Cavey both of Wheatland; a son Charles (Linda) of Toronto, Iowa; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Reid was proceeded in deathy by his parents, two sisters, and eight brothers.
