Richard Boedeker, age 83, of Lowden, Iowa, died February 1, 2010. Richard was born June 11, 1926, in rural Lowden to Dick Boedeker and Mary (Deerberg) Boedeker. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, Iowa, with Reverend Barbara Muhs officiating. Burial will follow at Van Horn Cemetery in Lowden. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 3, at the Funeral Home. Richard had served in the Army and then worked for Wendling Quarries and Lowden Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ-Lowden and the Lowden Amvets. After his retirement he enjoyed going down to Lowden Plumbing and Heating and playing many hours of solitaire. He is survived by his brothers Chris (Phyllis), Henry, Donald (Carol) all of Lowden; sister Betty (Bud) Baal of Broomfield, CO; sister-in-law Eunice Boedeker of Lowden and many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by parents, sister Milda, sister-in-law-Shirley and two brothers, Paul & Norman.
