Robert M. Coppess, Jr., age 93 passed away on Sunday February 28, 2021. There will be a memorial service on Saturday May 29 at 11:00 A.M at the Stanwood Cemetery with military rites. Bob was born April 4, 1927 in Stanwood, Iowa to Robert Maxwell Sr. and Alma Simmons Coppess. He married Patricia Crock on August 20, 1950 at the Stanwood Methodist Church. She passed away on January 16, 2015. Survivors include sons Robert M. (Max) III (Grace) of Stanwood, Michael W. (Sue) of Indianola, David L. (Deana) of Lake of the Ozarks, W. Brent (Debbie) of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Brian B. (Patty) of Gunnison, Colorado, and Cameron S. (Becky) of West Des Moines; daughter M. Dawn (Tom) Weiland of Stanwood; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and grandson Quentin Coppess. Bob was a lifetime farmer raising both crops and livestock. He was an avid aviator and was a private pilot for over 55 years. Bob served his country in the US Army Air Corps during World War II, and was a past commander of the Hegarty-Busching Legion Post 348 in Stanwood. Bob sold Moorman's Feed in earlier years and was a Cyclone, Cubs, and race fan. He enjoyed traveling with Pat, going to his kid's activities, and was a lifelong member of the Stanwood Union Church.
