Robert R. Flockhart, age 88 of Stanwood, passed away on Monday January 16, 2017 at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 20, 2017 at 10:30 A.M at the Stanwood Union Church with Reverend Ron Lashmit officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday January 19 from 5-7 P.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Robert was born on May 10, 1928 to Roy and Leah (Sproston) Flockhart in Anamosa, Iowa. He married Darlene Coppess on January 28, 1946 in Stanwood. Robert owned the family Drive Inn Resturaunt in Stanwood for many years and retired from the Iowa DOT after 19 years. In his spare time he enjoyed working on cars and golfing with his family & friend, R.C. Robert will be greatly missed by his family. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; 3 sons, Bob (Marie) of Tipton, Rick (Cindy) of Stanwood, and Steve (Tami) of Cedar Rapids; 4 daughters, Marcia (Harry) Driscoll of Mechanicsville, Sandy Proesch of Cedar Rapids, Joyce (Bob) Simmermaker of Clarence, and Dianna (Dennis) Hodgden of Tipton; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; brother, Keith (Jeri) of Lisbon; and brother-in-law, Chuck Bartunek. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don; sisters, Doris, Ruth and Janet; a niece; two nephews; and two great nieces. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.
