Robert J."Bob" Madden, age 72, of Lowden, Iowa, died May 10, 2008, passed away gently on Friday, May 9, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport after a long Illness. He was a longtime resident of the North Scott and North Cedar Communities.
Robert J."Bob" Madden, age 72, of Lowden, Iowa, died May 10, 2008, passed away gently on Friday, May 9, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport after a long Illness. He was a longtime resident of the North Scott and North Cedar Communities. Robert was born November 4, 1935, in Long Grove, Iowa to Ralph and Eleanor (Tiedje) Madden. He married Connie Grell on August 25, 1956 and they celebrated each day of more than 51 years together.
In his early years Bob worked for Iowana Farms Dairy. He and Connie managed both the Maysville Bowling Alley and the 3/30 Country Club in Lowden. He was also a salesman for Moorman Feeds, but his farming and the family farm near Donahue were his favorite occupation. He was a former member of the Scott County Sheriffs Posse, the Maysville Fire Dept, Lowden Lions Club, and served on the Lowden City Council. He also was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and had served on the church council.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, May 12, 2008, at Zion United Church Of Christ in Lowden, Iowa, with Reverend Barbara Muhs officiating. Burial will follow at Long Grove Christian Church Cemetery in Long Grove, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Sunday, May 11, at the Zion Church. Arrangements are with Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.
He is survived by his loving wife Connie; children Brenda Griebahn of Iowa City, Bob Jr. of Davenport, and David of Donahue; his wonderful grandchildren; 3 special great-grandchildren and all their families; and his favorite sister Becky Stutt of Eldridge.
