Robert K. Steele, age 77 of Wheatland, passed away on Thursday January 16, 2014 at the Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport. There will be no funeral services and burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 22, 2014 at Chapman's in Wheatland from 4-7 P.M with a Masonic Service at 7:00 P.M. Robert was born on August 27, 1936 to J.L. and Ethel (Kelling) Steele in Clinton, Iowa. He married Joan Garrow on September 30, 1977 in Wheatland. Robert was a member of the Oxford Junction Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He also played in area bands, mainly the "Melody Makers" for over 20 years. He was a former member of the Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department and city council. He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Joan; two daughters, Patty (Eric) Schulz of Wheatland and Kim (Kelvin) Fisher of Walcott; son, Bill (Kerry) Garrow of Grand Mound; grandchildren, Christopher Kuhl, Nichelle Kuhl, Brianna Garrow, and Gracie Garrow; sister, Mary (Donald) Schliff of Los Angeles, CA; and a niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law.
