Obituary

Robert (Pete) Stewart, age 65 of Wheatland, passed away on Thursday March 10, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer. In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated. A visitation will be held on Wednesday March 16 at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence from 4-6 PM followed by farewell military honors. Robert Duane Stewart was born on May 10, 1956 to A. Leroy and Marylou (Fuller) Stewart in Davenport. He was the oldest of six children and he was the fifth grandchild on the Stewart side in a line of 215. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps from 1974 to 1978. During this time he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan out of Camp Pendleton, California. Upon his return he worked at Brammer Manufacturing in Davenport. There he met Debra Walker, and they married in 1979. They had one child, Jessie Jane Stewart. They later divorced. In 2013 he married Stacy Rude, and they divorced in 2021. Robert worked for years running irrigation teams for several landscape companies. He recently retired in the fall of 2021. The biggest passions "Pete" had were hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles with friends, special cousins Jason & Travis, and his love for animals. He loved turkey hunting and hanging with his extended family in Nichols, Iowa. He leaves behind a daughter Jessie Jane of Milan, IL; one grandchild Makenzie; sister Diana (Mark) Craig of Davenport; brothers David (Debra) of West Des Moines and youngest brother & best friend Michael of Davenport; 5 nieces Kelly Craig (also his Goddaughter), Jaime (Kevin) Glasgow, Courtney (Ryan) Maxwell, and Dawn and Marybeth Stewart; two great nieces; three great nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as his special extended family in Nichols – Bill & Nancy Mills, their children, and Cody Mills. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; two sisters; and a very special friend Bubba. The family would like to send a special thank you to all the staff at Wheatland Manor and to Jill Marlier @ St. Croix for your wonderful care and compassion.
