Roland N. Fox, age 87 of Lowden, passed away on Tuesday May 12, 2015 at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island, Illinois. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 15, 2015 at 10:30 A.M at Zion United Church of Christ in Lowden with Pastor Stephen Stepp officiating. Burial will follow at the Lowden Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-7 P.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland on Thursday May 14, 2015.
Roland was born on December 1, 1927 to Henry and Lillie (Laschansky) Fox in Wheatland, Iowa. He married Marlene Koch on May 9, 1953 in Wheatland.
Roland was a member of the Lowden Lions Club, and was well known for his corn shelling and playing with the Cedar Ramblers band for years all over, including nursing homes. He liked to go "see the leaves", playing cards, going to dances, and enjoyed his pond. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; son, Terry (Lisa) of Davenport; daughters, Julie (Barry) Hoffmeier and Dianne (Beryl) Esbaum of Lowden; grandchildren, Shandon Hoffmeier, Alexis (Bryan) Yanke, Brett Esbaum, Kelli (Dusty) Kain, Riley Fox, and Teresa Fox; and 7 great grandchildren.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lester, Warren, Donald, Virtus, and Leroy Fox; and sisters, Lurene Kelding, Ruby Kroh, and Jeanette Kleppe.
