Roland Mingst, age 85, of Clarence, Iowa, died December 10, 2009. Roland was born November 8, 1924, in Clarence to Bill Boettcher and Edna Mingst. Roland married Mildred Horn Jan 28, 1945. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, December 13, 2009, at Clarence United Methodist Church, Iowa. Burial will follow at Clarence Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Saturday, December 12, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. Roland had farmed and upon retirement stayed on the farm. Roland loved everyone and showed that in his daily living. He wanted to be there always for his family and friends. His church was important to him and he served wherever he was needed, he had held many offices. Roland served many years on the Clarence Nursing Home Board with his aim to keep a good nursing home in the community. He will be big time missed by his family but they have been blessed to have him many years. He is survived by the love of his life, Millie, 2 sons, Bill(Chris) of San Diego,CA and Bob (Linda) of Clarence; 5 grandchildren Jessica (Greg) Krahn of Wisconsin, Erica (Jeff) Imholz of Ohio, B.J. Mingst of DesMoines, Amanda (Andrew) Walford of SanDiego,CA, Kate (Mark) Drovdahl of Seattle. 4 great grandchildren Kaylee Krahn,Emelia and Joscelyn Imholz and Isaiah Drovdahl; 2 sisters Dorothy Pingel and Kathryn (Doc) Utley and sister in-law Dorothy (Stan) Williams; many nieces and nephews.\n
