Rollin Dale Wood, age 91, of Tipton (formerly of Stanwood), Iowa, died on December 3, 2010, at Mechanicsville Nursing & Rehab. Rollin was born October 6, 1919, in Morley, Iowa, to Frank Wood and Sarah (Fulton) Wood. Rollin married Virginia Bowers on May 5, 1945, at Maquoketa, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at Stanwood Union Church, Iowa, with Pastor Phil Leipold officiating. Burial will follow at Stanwood Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites. Visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 pm on Monday, December 6, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. A memorial fund has been established. Dale served in the army during World War II and worked as custodian at Lincoln Schools in Stanwood for 33 years prior to retirement. His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Sally (Allen) Kraft of Davenport; son, Raymond (Bette) Wood of Swisher; 3 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Rollin was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
