Ronald LaVern Atkins, age 79 of Clarence, passed away on Tuesday August 19, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday August 26, 2014 at the Clarence United Methodist Church at 11:00 A.M with Pastor Carol Mart officiating. Burial will follow at the Clarence Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Ron was born on November 22, 1934 to Darrell and Mary Margaret "Peg" (Hodson) Atkins in Tipton, Iowa. He married Corrine Bachman on December 26, 1954 in Clarence. Ron was a past member of the Jaycees, a member of the I.O.O.F, Clarence United Methodist Church, and the brown mug club. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, playing cards, softball, bowling, and golfing. Ron also loved big band era music. He is survived by his wife, Corrine; son, Robin (TaraLynne) of Clarence; daughters, Ann (Cary) Branch of Dallas, TX. and Arlene (Steve) Lyon of Olin; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and sister. Memorials may be directed to the Clarence United Methodist Church or the Clarence Ambulance Association.
