Roy G. Ganzer, 73, of Wheatland, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, St. Paul�s UCC, Wheatland, with the Rev. John Cofield officiating. Burial: Pine Hill Cemetery, Wheatland. Friends may call from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Chapman�s Funeral Home, Wheatland.
Roy was born Jan. 1, 1939, in rural Clinton County, Iowa, to Henry and Hazel Goodell Ganzer. He married Leana Snyder on Oct. 15, 1960 in Toronto. She died Nov. 25, 1998.
Roy was an avid blackjack, poker and sheepshead player and enjoyed splitting time between Wheatland and Arizona with Bel. Roy enjoyed riding his Harley and also enjoyed his land along the Wapsi. He collected belt buckles for years and started the Belt Buckle Caboose.
Roy retired from Alcoa after 34 years as a crane operator. Roy also served in the Army.
Survivors include two sons, Jed of DeWitt and Jay (Shelly) of Wheatland; a daughter, Julie (Eric) Armstrong of Clarence; grandchildren, Jeric (Melissa) Armstrong, Marisa Armstrong, Jarrod Ganzer, Morgan Ganzer, Amanda Ganzer and Kelsi Ganzer; special friend, Bel Tischmacher of Wheatland and Golden Valley, Ariz.; brothers, Max of Durant, DeVere of Grand Mound, Dale of Walcott, and Ned of Wheatland; and sisters, Margaret Purvis of Mechanicsville, Phoebe Rhoades of Monticello, and Rosemary Elwood of Ada, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and two sisters.
