Ruth A. Nagler, 97, of Jackson, MI, formerly of Stanwood, Iowa died November 16, 2008, in Jackson. Ruth was born May 1, 1911 in Stanwood, Iowa.
Ruth began her teaching career in 1937 in Fontanelle, Iowa. Ruth taught at Tipton, Lisbon, and Sumner, Iowa. She also taught at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa and Grand Island, Nebraska. In 1946 Ruth came to teach at Jackson High School and finished her teaching career at Parkside High School in 1980 after 43 years. Ruth received her B.A. degree from Cornell College, in Mount Vernon, and her M.A. degree from the University of Michigan. She also completed additional work at the University of Denver and University of Nebraska. Ruth was elected to Delta Pi Epsilon Honorary Business Education Graduate Fraternity. She was a member of Jackson Education Association, Michigan Education Association, Delta Pi Epsilon and formerly a member of Michigan Alumnae Club of Jackson. Ruth was a long standing member of Trinity Lutheran Church, active in Trinity's Book Nook and Bible studies.
Graveside services for Ruth Nagler will be held at Stanwood Cemetery on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 10:00am, with Reverend Tim Jones officiating.
Ruth is survived by one nephew and one niece.
