Ruth E. Montz, age 83, of Mechanicsville, Iowa died on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Clarence Nursing Home, in Clarence, Iowa. Ruth was born on September 6, 1925, in Stanwood, Iowa, to Alfred and Ida (Baker) Meyer. She married Kenneth Montz on October 23, 1949 in Stanwood. Ruth was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Presbyterian Church and the Red Hat Society. She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed crossword puzzles and was very active in the Mechanicsville Community. She especially loved her family, grandkids and all their activites. The family would like to give special thanks to Jessi, Julie, Ginger and the staff at St. Luke's Hospice, the visiting Angels and the Clarence Nursing Home family for their loving care. Funeral services for Ruth will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsville on Monday, September 29, 2008, at 10:30am, with Pastor Jeremy Hudson officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsville. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00pm on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence with an Eastern Star Service at 5:00pm. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Hospice or Mechanicsville Fire and Ambulance Volunteers. Ruth is survived by her husband of 58 years Kenneth; daughter Susan (Carter) Mullen of Scottsdale, Arizona; sons Brian (Kathy) Montz of Hiawatha, and Brent (Jody) Montz of Mechanicsville; grandchildren Dylan, Drew and Carly Montz of Mechanicsville; sister-in-law Katie Meyer of Stanwood and her family. Ruth was proceeded in death by her parents and brother Kenneth Meyer.
