Ruth Swift, age 97, of Stanwood, Iowa, died September 2, 2009, at Heritage Nursing Home of Cedar Rapids. She was was born November 20, 1911, in Nodaway, Iowa, to Harry and Flora (Heitkamp) Poston. She married John Swift February 27, 1938, at Tipton. He died in 1972. Ruth was a retired bookkeeper, having worked at Stanwood Lumber Company. She was a member of Stanwood Union Church and Order of Eastern Star. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 25, 2009, graveside, at Stanwood Cemetery in Stanwood, Iowa, with Pastor Phil Leipold officiating. Burial will follow. Mrs. Swift is survived by her nephews Steven and David Poston, niece Marcia Poston, great niece Amy Bergan, great nephew Grant Poston. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers James, Richard, and Wallace.
