Sally Hess, age 64, passed away on Thursday April 11, 2013 at her home surrounded by loved ones in rural Wheatland. A private service will be held at a later date. Sally was born on July 11, 1948 to Carl and Jeanette Ruprecht in Cedar Rapids. She married Eugene Hess on September 12, 1969 in Lowden. Sally resided in rural Wheatland all of her life except while accompanying her husband to Germany while he was in the military. She taught school in the Wheatland and Calamus-Wheatland school districts for 32 years. After retirement Sally spent her time doing the things she loved - being a grandmother, mother and wife. Traveling, gardening and birding were her favorite pastimes, and she loved life to the fullest. Sally is survived by her husband, Eugene; two sons, Jonathan (Dawn) of Lowden and Philip (Melissa) of Manchester; a sister, Martha (Joe) Mattes of Atlanta, Georgia; a brother, Jeff (Judy) Ruprecht of Twin Falls, Idaho; two granddaughters, Ashley and Joslyn; and a grandson, Ian. She was preceded in death by her parents.
