Stanley H. Lawrence, age 69, of Stanwood, Iowa, died at Mercy Hospital Iowa City on June 12, 2011. Stanley was born October 15, 1941, in Iowa City to Prentis Lawrence and Eunice (Preston) Lawrence. Stanley married Carolyn Jean Simmons on June 3, 1967 in Corning, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 16, 2011, with Masonic Services at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, Iowa. An inurnment will be at a later date in Stanwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Stan had worked as a drywall taper. He was a member of Stanwood Union Church and Freemont Masonic Lodge #616 of Stanwood. He is survived by wife Carolyn; daughters Marsha Schorg of Blairstown and Shawna Husmann of Anamosa; son Timothy Simmons of Marion, IL; grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters Janet Boyd of Lebonon, OR and Mary Lawrence Jones of Stansberry, MO; and brother Robert of Steilacoom, WA. Stanley was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
