Sylvia Mostaert, age 98, of Wheatland, Iowa, died May 8, 2008, at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home. Sylvia was born December 1, 1909, in Big Rock, Iowa to Harry and Clara (Petersen) Carraher. Sylvia married Gerald Mostaert October 1, 1947 at St. James Catholic Church in Toronto, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1974. Per Sylvia's wishes there will be no visitation and a private funeral on May 12. Chapman Funeral Home-Wheatland is in charge of arrangements. She will be deeply missed and always loved by her family. She is survived by her daughter Rita Petersen and fiance Tom Bousselot, both of Calamus; one granddaughter Angela (Mike) Rickels of Elwood; and two grandsons, Rory (Deana) Petersen of Olin and Wade Petersen of Calamus; and three great granddaughters, Michaela and Mackinsey Rickels of Elwood and Tori Jo Petersen of Olin. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother Raymond.
