Ursa (Ursie) Stoecker Kroh Nanke, 98, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at the West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa from natural causes. Ursa was born on August 11, 1908 in Lowden, Iowa, to Adloph and Anna (Bouschlicher) Stoecker. Ursa married Henry Kroh in 1930. Their daughter Arlene was born at home in 1934. After Henry's death she married Carl Nanke of Stanwood, Iowa in 1965. Memorial services will be at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, Iowa, on Thursday, May 24, 2007, at 3:00 PM with Dr. Leonard Ranson officiating. Her body has been cremated with internment in Pine Hill Cemetery in Wheatland, Iowa. Friends may come to the visitation from 1:30 until service time on Thursday. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Linn County or the family. Ursa is survived by Four adopted sons Larry (Sharon) Easler, Gary (Mary) Nanke, Keith (Lois) Nanke all of Cedar Rapids and John (Roxy) Nanke of Mechanicsville; a sister Elvira Steffens of Tipton and 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Ursa was proceeded in death by her parents, her daughter Arlene and both husbands.
