Valda M. Pruess, 72, died Tuesday November 20, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral services will be Friday November 23, 2012 at 11 A.M. at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with Reverend David Mears officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Clarence.\n Valda was born on May 15, 1940 in Anamosa, Iowa to Melvin and Louetta (Soenksen) Pruess. She enjoyed going to movies, eating out, and Camp Courageous, as well as doing embroidery and painting.\n Survivors include special cousins Kenny (Mildred) Soenksen of Marion, Sherry (Galen) Brendes of Marion, Larry Soenksen of Olin, and Martha McCall and family of Mechanicsville.\n She was preceded in death by her parents, and special cousin Melissa Brendes.
