Velma Kintzel, 89, of Stanwood, Iowa died Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Clarence Nursing Home. Velma Kintzel was born on June 16, 1916 in rural Massillon, Iowa to Ernest Hartig and Anna Ehmke.
Velma married Arthur Kintzel May 23, 1937 at Clarence. He died August 13, 1996.
Velma had worked for over 20 years at Ropa's Grocery store in Stanwood. She was a member of St.John's United Church of Christ where she had sang in the choir and played in the bell choir. She also was a former 4-H leader.
A memorial service at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, January 21st at St.John's United Church of Christ in Clarence Iowa. Reverend David Mears will be presiding. Interment will be at St. John's Church Cemetery in Clarence Iowa.
Velma is survived by three daughters Susan (Klaus) Knoop of Pleasant Plain, Illinois, Carole (Jack) Carlson of Phoenix Arizona, Karen (Lavern) Schwien of Clarence; Two sons, Kenneth (Jean) of LaCrosse Wisconsin and Jay (Vickie) of Longmont Colorado; 14 grandchiildren and 20 great grandchildren; sister in-laws:Lois Hartig of Tipton and Nellie Hartig of Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and brothers Erwin,Lawrence and Robert Hartig.
