Victor D. Mensing, age 92, of Lowden, Iowa, died on March 21, 2012 at Wheatland Manor Nursing Home. Victor was born October 30, 1919, in Lowden, Iowa to Deitrich Mensing and Ella (Kruckenburg) Mensing. Victor married Marian Licht on September 26, 1948 in Lowden. She died September 22, 2009.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden, Iowa, with Reverend Victor Young officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, March 23, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.
Victor was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post 366 in Lowden and he was a WWII Army veteran. Victor was one of the original founders of the 3/30 Golf and Country Club in Lowden and also the Lowden Memorial Ballpark. He started Lowden Plumbing and Heating in 1948 and worked until the day he died.
He is survived by 2 sons: Dick (JoAnn) of Lowden, Mark (Jacquelyn) of Franklin, Indiana; daughter Julie Einck of Dubuque, IA; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 3 sisters: Myrna Magoon of Bettendorf, IA, Luanna Nelson of Los Angeles, CA, Gladys Mundt of Chandler, AZ.
Vistor was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
