Victor Hess, age 87, of Lowden, Iowa, died on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Victor was born April 19, 1923, in Walcott, Iowa to William Hess and Sadie (Schroeder) Hess. Victor graduated from Davenport High School in 1940 and married Charlotte Thurston on September 19, 1945 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Davenport. A private memorial will be held at a later date, arrangements with Chapman Funeral Home-Clarence. Victor and Charlotte farmed most of their married life in the Walcott, Bennett, and Wheatland communities. In 2006 they retired to Lowden and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2010, with their entire family present. Victor enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, who will greatly miss the laughter and love he gave his family. He is survived by wife-Charlotte, six children, Vicki (Marty) Carrico, Deanna (Dave) Metzger ,Gene (Sally) Hess, Debbie (Curt) Leuer, Richard (Natasha) Hess and Jonelle (Andy) Weber, 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
