Virginia M. Kastantin, 95 of Clarence, Iowa died Sunday February 21, 2016 at the Clarence Nursing Home. A Memorial Service at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland will be at a later date. Burial will be at the Veterans National Cemetery in Springfield, MO. Virginia was born April 19, 1920 in LaGrange, GA. She later moved to Dow City, IA. with her parents Dr. Thomas L. Vineyard, MD and mother Carrie Knight Vineyard. She married Brony F. Kastantin in Ottumwa, IA. on May 15, 1943. Virginia graduated from Dow City High School in 1939 and later graduated from the Nebraska Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, NE in September of 1942. Her career as an RN included the Ottumwa Hospital and several other facilities around the area. She loved caring for her family and enjoyed her many grand and great grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes included reading, cards with her friends, her nursing career and also a favorite dog "CoCo". Survivors include her sons, B. Frank (Cheryl) Kastantin Jr. of Wheatland, IA., Joseph T. (Linda) Kastantin of LaCrosse, WI., John M. Kastantin of Clinton, IA., a daughter-in-law Debra Kastantin of Dallas Center, IA., 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband Brony and son Michael Kastantin. The family wishes to extend a special thank you for the excellent care and kindness from the staff at the Clarence Nursing Home.
