Virginia L. Weingartz, age 87, of Lowden, Iowa formerly of Mequon, Wisconsin, and Rock Island, Illinois, died at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City on Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Virginia was born July 13, 1923, in Kansas City, Missouri to Arthur Lawhorn and Ina (Kuder) Lawhorn. Virginia married Richard H. Weingartz on January 22, 1944. He died in 1993. Memorial Service will take place at Ozaukee Congregational Church, Grafton, Wisconsin on Saturday, December 11, 2010. Arrangements are with Chapman Funeral Home & Cremation Services-Clarence. Memorials may be sent to Kathy Perry, P.O. Box 381, Lowden, Iowa 52255 and they will be directed to Bethany Home, Moline, Iowa City Hospice or Mercy Hospice. Virginia had worked as a secretary for John Deere for many years and worked with her husband at the Dikcon Company in Rock Island. She is survived by daughters: Kathy (Steve) Perry of Clarence, Iowa and Karen (Tim) Nolan of Grafton, Wisconsin; grandchildren Tina (Matt) Brennan of Lowden, Iowa and Sam Nolan of Grafton, Wisconsin; sister-in law Virginia Lawhorn of Rock Island; and special caregiver Charlie Tucker of Lowden, Iowa. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
