Wayne D. Frett, age 74, of Bennett, Iowa, died December 18, 2009, at Clarissa C Cook Hospice House-Bettendorf. Wayne was born July 20, 1935, in Clinton, Iowa, to Francis Frett and Amelia Nissen. Wayne married Bonnie Turkle November 10, 1962, in Davenport.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at St. Paul's United Church Of Christ in Wheatland, Iowa, with Reverend John Cofield officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 pm on Monday, December 21, at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.
Wayne served in the Army from 1958-1960 and retired from J.I. Case company. After retirement he worked for Lowden Fertilizer and Farm Service. In his younger days he was a good athlete and enjoyed playing various sports. He was an avid outdoors man, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed his vegetable garden and hobby farming. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, Wheatland Lions, and Lowden Amvets.\n \nHe is survived by his wife Bonnie; 3 sons David (Lynn) of Garland, Utah, Douglas (Stephanie) of Durant, Daryl (Dawn) of Mindota Hts, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren: Erin, Kayla, Dawson, Cale, Kallie Frett; and his sister Marilyn Jacobsen of Olin.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, brother James, and sister Patricia Biddle.
