Obituary

Zella Tharp, age 86, passed away on Wednesday September 18, 2013 at the Mechanicsville Nursing & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 21, 2013 at 10:30 A.M at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence with Reverend Barb Muhs officiating. Burial will follow in the Massillon Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday September 20, 2013 from 4-7 P.M at Chapman's in Clarence. Zella was born on April 25, 1927 to Floyd and Minnie (Freeman) Eaton in Vinton, Iowa. She married William Tharp on September 21, 1947 in Lancaster, Wisconsin. He died in 2008. Zella bowled in a womens league for many years. She also sold Avon for over 40 years and was in the Presidents Club. Zella spent many years waitressing at the Arrow Caf� and many other restaurants. She is survived by three sons, Dennis Tharp, Michael (Julie) Tharp, and Greg Tharp, all of Lowden; son-in-law, Charles Clarke of Queensland, Australia; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, James (Shirley) Eaton of Alta, IA and Clarence "Butch" (Carolyn) Eaton of Creston, IA; sister, Maria Eaton of West Des Moines, IA; and sister-in-laws, Phyllis Eaton of Grand Mound and June Tharp of Wilmington, IL. Zella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; brothers, Richard, Marion, and Leo Eaton; sisters, Ruth Lindsey and Arline Jones; and daughter, Colleen Clarke. The family would like to send a special thank you to Unity Point Hospice, Mechanicsville Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar County Health, and Sandy Sander for her special care.
